Situated in the heart of the Great Glen, in the tranquil village of Invermoriston. The cottage is tucked away at the back of the village, next to Darroch View B&B with gardens backing onto woodland, it has outstanding views and seclusion as well as all the amenities of the village. The village itself, as well as being one of the prettiest in the Highlands, has many attractions including the Telford Bridge and waterfalls with walks along a wooded gorge, fishing for trout and salmon on the River Moriston and the Great Glen Way walk and cycle route It boasts the Glen Moriston Arms Hotel, which serves excellent meals in there restaurant, bar meals and lunches, as well as a lovely pint or tot or two of whisky, which ever you prefer. Also to be found are a local craft shop and clog makers, village store, tea rooms and restaurant and a village hall in which funtions are often held. The village is an easy 2min wallk from the cottage, giving you the best of both worlds. Being at the junction of the A82 Fort William to Inverness road and the A887 road to the Isles, the cottage makes an ideal touring base from which to discover the beauty of the Highlands. Fort William on the west coast, Inverness on the east, and the Isle of Skye to the north are all within easy distance for day trips. A 10min drive takes you to Fort Augustus with its impressive staircase locks, Loch ness cruises, restaurants and information centres plus food stores. A 20min drive along the lochside takes you to Drumnadrochit which hosts more of the above, including a riding centre, Loch Ness exhibition centres, and the world famous Castle Urquart, built in the 11th century and renowned for its Loch Ness Monster sightings. The cottage was built in the 1850s and was originally two properties, it still retains much of its old world charm, at the same time it has all the amenities of a modern day property, such as free Wi.Fi., double glazing, bathroom suite with seperate shower and bath, electric heating, flat screen tv, microwave, washing machine, electric oven cooker and fridge freezer. All rooms have lovely views of the mountains and have a hairdryer and make up mirror. Fishing for trout and salmon can be arranged on the River Moriston 10min walk via the Glen Moriston estate office, as well as fishing on Loch Ness or the nearby hill lochs.
