Under local ownership the Ben Loyal Hotel is located in the picturesque village of Tongue, Sutherland on the North West coast of Scotland. Sutherland is, without doubt, one of Scotland 's best kept secrets beautiful white sand beaches, craggy, mountainous peaks, vast moors draped in blankets of heather, lonely, isolated lochs, and haunting ruins of crumbling crofts from times gone by, where endless hours of exploring can pass without seeing another soul.

Off the beaten track, The Ben Loyal Hotel is situated 85 miles north of Inverness just off the A836 or 47 miles along a beautiful route from Durness on the A838. Tongue is approximately a 5 - 6 hour drive (250 miles) north of Edinburgh and Glasgow, 1 hour from the Orkney ferry terminal at Scrabster and an hour (43 miles) from Thurso.
