Bowood’s Championship golf course near Chippenham in Wiltshire is set in 2,000 acres of glorious parkland. Renowned as one of the finest golf courses in Wiltshire and one of the best golf resorts in the South of England, Bowood is a simply beautiful place to play golf. The course was designed by leading golf course architect, Dave Thomas and opened in 1992. Lord Lansdowne gave Thomas a free reign to use as much space on the beautiful rolling Bowood Estate as he needed but to avoid removing any well established trees. The result is stunning – a majestic course that winds its way through the landscape incorporating natural streams, woodland, valleys and the many thousands of beautiful trees. Bowood can provide a very stiff challenge when played from the back tees, at 7309 yards but all levels of golfer can enjoy the course with a range of less challenging tees further forward. The white tees come in at 6878 yards, the yellows at 6566 yards and the ladies’ red tees at 6015 yards. When it comes to Wiltshire golf courses, Bowood is one to put at the top of your list.
