The fantastic East Course at Dalmahoy, designed by James Braid, is a true Championship venue. And following its £1 million redevelopment in 2004, holes 13 and 14 are now arguably the best back to back par 4s in the country.The course is a monster at over 7,400 yards, however for corporate events and members’ competitions, it is set at 6814 yards. But don’t be fooled – it still makes for a stern test, with the par-5 16th, the par-3 17th and the par-4 18th combining to produce one of the most memorable finishes in golf. Fairways are generous in width and large greens are inviting to hit to, but watch out for those subtle breaks.

The Championship East’s sister course is the beautiful West Course. At nearly 2000 yards shorter in length, it is a more compact challenge. However, the West is much tighter in places with smaller greens to navigate your ball on
to. A par 68 offers many birdie chances but you can also be easily caught out with its trickery and devilishly designed holes.

Both courses cater for all standards of golfer and are a joy to play, with beautiful views and the peace and tranquillity of the Lothians countryside.
