WELCOME TO BOVEY CASTLE, DEVON
You've arrived.

Bovey Castle is history, excitement, glamour, adventure and the perfect retreat.

Where else can you wear your Hunter wellies at 8am, golf spikes at 3pm and Manolo Blahniks for dinner? But while they offer its guests luxury and indulgence, this isn't a stuffy hotel where you can’t sit on the furniture or let your kids enjoy themselves.

Bovey Castle is a place where you can live out your dreams, then put your feet up.

Why stay at Bovey?

Well, it’s definitely because of the luxurious hospitality of Bovey Castle, the attention to detail and outstanding service. It may also be to make the most of the championship golf course or to indulge in a treatment or two in its spa.

Perhaps it’s the vast array of activities available to experience or the wonderful choice of dining options, from afternoon tea on the South Terrace to a private dinner in the secluded Summerhouse. The unrivalled location and views over the dramatic Dartmoor National Park play a part, but it’s all of these elements combined that make Bovey Castle Hotel such a unique destination time after time.
Bovey Castle
Bovey Castle sits majestically high on the edge of the valley overlooking all that surrounds her. Below the beautifully restored Edwardian gardens the championship golf course meanders along the valley and the burbling River Bovey sparkles and glistens as it makes its way down from the high moor. On the opposite side of the valley beyond the woods Easdon Tor stands imperiously glinting in the morning sunshine a part of this ancient landscape since time began and today perhaps England 's last true wilderness. Dartmoor is truly a magical place and Bovey Castle the jewel in its crown. Every advantage has been taken of its unique setting to create a truly special resort. There is a vast array of activities available for young and old alike so there will never be a time when you have nothing to do unless of course that is what you want. The Hotel has been awarded the 2010-11 Large Hotel of the Year at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards and is also proud to feature in the 2011 Conde Nast Traveller Gold List. The bedrooms in the Castle are designed with comfort in mind. They were created as part of a great home and they retain the flexibility to meet the most demanding requirements of Bovey Castle 's present day guests. Heavenly beds delicious duvets wonderful views through leaded panes lofted ceilings and family suites are all part of the Bovey Castle experience. There are modern touches as well from flat screens televisions to high speed wireless internet access and movie channels. The house staff are constantly on hand to tend to your needs so all you need to do is relax and unwind. Great food and wine are very much entwined in the Bovey Castle experience. Regardless of whether one is enjoying a relaxed dish on a summer terrace or soaking in the experience of a tasting menu at high table you will experience the same attention to detail and the same commitment to making your experience the best it possibly can be. Ingredients are constantly being reviewed with a consistent focus on freshness and quality. Fresh fish is delivered daily from nearby Brixham beef is sourced from native Dartmoor cattle bred on a farm only a few miles from the estate and Lamb from Launceston on the edge of the moor. Wine as one might expect is also at the heart of the dining experience at the castle. Guests are encouraged to enjoy and experience excellent wines throughout their stay. Each day the sommelier conducts tutored wine tastings in the Castle cellars where guests have the opportunity to experience compare and contrast different wines and explore the very extensive cellar list on offer. The Oak Room bar is a varitable treasure trove of fine Champagne Cognacs whiskies and spirits. There are many malts and fine Armagnacs some dating back to the time the house was built and if these don t tempt you the mixologists are constantly developing the most wonderful cocktails to tantalise even the most demanding taste buds. The fact is whatever the weather or reason for your visit there 's always so much to see and do at Bovey both on the estate and within the area. As one would expect from a property set in 400 acres and situated in the heart of the dramatically beautiful Dartmoor National Park the list includes almost every country and sporting activity imaginable including croquet cricket mountain biking table tennis archery rifle shooting fishing riding ferret racing tennis and even the more simple pleasures of beekeeping or cider making. For more adrenalin fuelled activities guests can take up the challenge of power kiting or canoeing clay pigeon shooting or the Land Rover 4x4 off-road experience. Those wishing to take in the wonder that is Bovey at a more passive pace also won t be disappointed. Take a step back and really make the most of the regal surroundings with the daily falconry displays art classes wonderful woodland walks hot air ballooning and even an early evening swim or yoga sessio
