This 18th Century Country House Hotel offers luxurious accommodation, an outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and on-site parking, nestled amidst 150 acres of tranquil parkland near the historic town of Battle. Originally the site of a famous Gunpowder Works, this listed building is infused with a rich history as evidenced by its many period features such as the grand entrance hall, roaring log fires, antique furniture and paintings as well as the charming drawing room. Now privately owned, it has been sympathetically converted into a magnificent Hotel, yet still retains the ambience of a traditional Georgian Country House. The surrounding grounds are a haven of natural beauty, here guests can walk through the scenic woodland trails, fish at the seven-acre lake or simply relax and absorb the peaceful atmosphere Each of the 40 en-suite bedrooms are individually styled and decorated, perfectly reflecting the attractive allure of the rest of the House. All rooms come fully-equipped with all the necessary modern conveniences and luxuries one would expect from a hotel of this calibre, including complimentary Wi-Fi access, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone and tea & coffee making facilities. Guests can choose from Standard, Executive and Junior Suite room types with options for double or twin beds. Many also feature spectacular views of the gardens and magnificent marble tiled bathrooms with sunken baths. The award-winning Orangery Restaurant has garnered an impressive reputation for the quality of its food. Everything is produced in-house, whilst the creative menu offers an extensive selection of wonderfully innovative and modern dishes. With its beautiful marble floors, Greek statues and huge windows that look out to the terrace and swimming pool, it is the perfect place for everything from a leisurely luncheon or evening meal to a black tie dinner party. For lighter meals, Guests are also able to take snacks in the library and the airy conservatory. Infused with an air of romanticism and grandeur, the Powder Mills Hotel provides the ideal setting for Weddings and other celebrations. Whatever the occasion, the Hotel 's professional and flexible service is sure to guarantee a memorable experience. Conference and banqueting facilities are also available, with facilities for a wide range of different sized events. Situated on the edge of the historic town of Battle, the hotel is only a 10 minute drive from the Southbound A21, or 15 minutes to Hastings, whilst the nearest city is Brighton, just under an hour 's drive away. With ample free on-site parking, it is both convenient and accessible. For those travelling by rail, Hastings offers excellent links to the rest of the country, whereas Battle Station is only a 5 minute taxi ride away. The closest major Airport is Gatwick, approximately 80 minutes away by car. The Hotel enjoys a privileged location, right in the heart of 1066 Country. Indeed the surrounding parkland even adjoins the famous Battlefield itself. Offering a glorious combination of coast and countryside as well as a rich historical heritage. Just a few minutes from the hotel is the vibrant market town of Battle, home to the ruins of Battle Abbey, which features a visitor centre with a film and exhibition about the battle, tours of the battlefield site and re-enactments. Further historic treasures can be uncovered at the iconic Bodiam Castle, a fantastic medieval fortress with imposing battlements and a surrounding moat. Further afield is the Edwardian seaside resort of Bexhill-on-Sea, renowned as the birthplace of British motor racing. Rye is a maritime maze of Medieval and Georgian buildings, featuring a wide selection of fine restaurants and eateries. Pevensey was the landing point for both the Romans and the Normans and is the site of a magnificent 4th Century castle.
