By Rail There is a regular rail service from all parts of the country to Bodmin Parkway Station, which is only a 25 minute drive from the hotel. It is also possible to connect with trains for Newquay Station, which is closer to the hotel, but will require you to change train lines at Par. We are happy to arrange taxis to meet guests travelling by rail at their choice of station. From London If you are travelling from London there are direct trains from London Paddington to Bodmin Parkway, even enabling you to leave direct from work (albeit a little early) to catch the 16.00hrs train and be with us for dinner overlooking the ocean. Or, why not try the overnight sleeper train, the Night Riviera It is comfortable and smooth the cabins are stylish and spacious with a wash basin, TV and freshly laundered sheets. Much less hassle, and far more enjoyable, than flying or driving: fall asleep in London and wake up to sunrise in Cornwall. From the North The West Coast main line and Cross Country services provide a variety of direct and indirect train options, with at least 3 direct trains each day travelling the Edinburgh to Penzance route (which calls at main stations such as Newcastle, Durham, York, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol, and Exeter) enabling you to alight and be collected at Bodmin Parkway. The last direct train, which calls at the stations listed above and would ensure that you could enjoy dinner in our wonderful restaurant, departs Edinburgh just after 11.00hrs. By Car From the East If travelling from the East take the M5 towards the South West. At Exeter, branch left onto the A30 westbound, sign posted Bodmin. If travelling from the West take the A30 eastward, signposted Bodmin. Continue travelling straight on the A30 until the Highgate Hill roundabout. Turn off onto the A39 towards Newquay. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit continuing on the A39 towards Wadebridge, following signs for Newquay Airport. At the Trekenning roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A3059, following signs for Newquay Airport. Just after the Gulf garage turn right, signposted St. Mawgan and Airport. Go past the airport and turn right at the T Junction, sign posted Padstow and Mawgan Porth. As you approach Mawgan Porth you can see the hotel perched on the cliff top! Travel through Mawgan Porth and as you are heading back up hill turn left onto Tredragon Road (there is a large sign post for The Scarlet on the opposite side of the road, just a little past the Tredragon Road turning). The hotel is 200 yards along this road, on your left. Please use the following post code for your SatNav: TR8 4DQ. From the West Take the A30 eastbound, sign posted Bodmin. Continue travelling on the A30 up until the Highgate Hill roundabout. From this point follow the directions as above.
