Regardless of your starting location, you will approach Kyle of Lochalsh on the A87. As you enter Kyle of Lochalsh the Skye Bridge is clearly signposted. Keep on the main road and go straight through the traffic lights in the centre of the town until you reach the bridge. Depending on weather and time you will get spectacular views from the bridge of Lochalsh, the Islands of Scalpay, Eilean Mor and Raasay. After crossing the bridge you will arrive at a small roundabout. Bear right and head for Broadford still on the A87. This is the main coastal road that leads to Portree. Follow the road for approximately 23 miles going through Broadford, Luib and Sconser until you reach Sligachan. Cross the bridge at Sligachan and turn left leaving the A87 and joining the A863 which goes inland, crossing from the east coast to the west and passing near the famous Talisker Whisky Distillery. Proceed along the winding road for approximately 23 miles passing Drynoch and going through Bracadale, Struan and Roskhill until reaching the outskirts of Dunvegan.
