Beautifully restored coaching Inn, set in the heart of Clitheroe. Our famous guests include Winston Churchill, Frank Whittle, Gandi to name but a few. In December 1942 the development of the Jet engine passed from the Rover Car company to Rolls Royce over a five shilling meal in the restaurant at The Swan & Royal. Whether you are travelling alone or as a family, on business or pleasure, the comfortable en-suite accommodation, which The Swan & Royal offers will ensure you have a relaxed night leaving you refreshed for the day ahead. The Swan & Royal is situated on the main street in Clitheroe, just minutes from the castle. It is accessible through the scenic Ribble Valley from the north or via the A59 from the M6 or M65. Clitheroe is the ideal location to stop for a night or lunch on a journey from West to East or East to West. Follow the main road into Clitheroe, then follow the one-way system until you climb Moor Lane. Turn right into Castle Street and we are on the right.
