Abbot Hall Hotel

It is believed that the monks of Furness Abbey bought the land and built the first Abbot Hall around 1160. The present building was constructed in 1840, since when Abbot Hall has been a family mansion, a school, and a hotel since 1916. Overlooking Morecambe Bay, Abbot Hall is set in extensive grounds which include a 15 meter heated indoor swimming pool and five self-catering pine lodges and a cottage within the grounds, some with views accommodating up to 26 guests. Situated on the edge of the hamlet of Kents Bank, near to the Victorian resort of Grange-over-Sands, Abbot Hall is readily accessible by road or by rail. It is an ideal center for exploring the beautiful Lake District, and is only 15 minutes drive from Newby Bridge at the foot of Lake Windermere. Abbot Hall Hotel has a range of bedrooms from fabulous superior rooms overlooking the bay to basic non en suite rooms perfect for those on a budget. LODGES....With Fantastic Views over the Bay There are five self-catering lodges in the grounds of the hotel - four with 2 bedrooms and one with 3. All include a living room with kitchenette, bathroom, dining and lounge areas and a TV and DVD player. Heating, lighting, bed linen and towels are all included, and lodge guests are welcome to use the facilities of the hotel. Meals are also available in the hotel. The 3 bedroom lodge also includes an en-suite shower room and WC off the main bedroom, and there is disabled access available on one of the 2 bedroom lodges.
