The coastal village of Port Appin and nearby isle of Lismore offers a wealth of activities for lovers of the great outdoors. Gentle walks, cycle rides on the National Cycle Network and in the forests, Munro and Corbett hill walking, sea kayaking, bird watching as well as looking out for seals and otters on the loch. Close by is the impressive Castle Stalker and the scene of the famous 18th Century Appin Murder. Take the passenger ferry from outside the hotel to Lismore and explore on foot or by bike to see an Iron Age Broch, ruined castles and stunning scenery. Around a 30-45 minute drive takes you to Glencoe, Fort William or Oban. We also offer a full range of hotel facilities including a Finnish sauna and excellent holistic treatments including therapeutic, aromatherapy, swedish and sports massage treatments for our guests. Glasgow - Road: From Glasgow - M8 west across the Erskine Bridge left onto the A82 Crianlarich, and continue north on the A82 signed Fort William. At Ballachulish, take the A828 to Oban and in Appin, turn right at the Port Appin / Lismore Ferry sign (allow 2 hours 15 minutes ). We recommend that you take this northern route via the A82 signed Fort William, rather than the southern route via the A85 signed Oban (via Taynuilt and Connel Bridge). br/ br/ Edinburgh - Road: From Edinburgh - take the M9 towards Stirling. Follow the A84 and head towards Crianlarich (A82), carry on to Ballachulish. Take the A828 to Oban and in Appin turn right at the Port Appin /Lismore Ferry sign (allow 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours). br/ br/ Glasgow International - Air: The nearest airports are Glasgow International which is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes by road, and Edinburgh Airport which is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by road. Additionally, private planes can land at Connel Airfield, just 20 minutes drive south from the hotel. Taxis and car hire are easily arranged and will meet you at the airfield if required. br/ br/ Edinburgh Airport - Air: The nearest airports are Glasgow International which is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes by road, and Edinburgh Airport which is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by road. Additionally, private planes can land at Connel Airfield, just 20 minutes drive south from the hotel. Taxis and car hire are easily arranged and will meet you at the airfield if required. br/ br/ Connel Ferry Station - Train: Trains depart from Glasgow Queen Street Station on the incredibly scenic West Highland Line, heading towards Oban..one stop before Oban you get off the train at Connel Ferry just 20 minutes drive south of the hotel. Taxis are easily arranged & will meet you at the station if required. There are also Buses from Glasgow s Buchanan Street Bus Station and also Glasgow Airport which can set you down at the village of Ballachulish, where a taxi can meet you. TAXIS should always be arranged in advance
