The Windmill Inn

The Windmill Motor Inn is under new ownership from the 18th March 2014 and is situated within the charming hamlet of Chatham Green in the very heart of rural Essex. We are only 15 minutes from Braintree or Chelmsford and 20 minutes from Stansted Airport. We are less than 3 miles from the new Chelmsford City racecourse. The Windmill Inn offers our visitors a unique opportunity for a relaxing stay whether it be on business or pleasure. We have 5 double & 2 twin very comfortable rooms that have en-suite shower & toilet , LCD Freeview TV, dvd player and free Wi-Fi in public areas. Four of the rooms are within the original Roundhouse base of the windmill , when selecting a room please note that the twin rooms and one of the standard rooms have tiled floors. The Superior rooms have fitted carpet. The remaining rooms are located in the stable block and have been constructed using the existing 19th century hand made bricks. Free Wi- Fi is available in bar and restaurant areas. Visitors with wheelchairs are welcomed with 2 of our rooms offering ground floor access and facilities. Just 50 yards from the Inn lies the Famous Essex Way, a public footpath that runs from Epping to Harwich and is a popular route with walkers & ramblers.You can also explore the many surrounding villages & hamlets. Our bar has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and in our restaurant you can enjoy a large selection of home made meals, light lunches & house specials. Our complimentary continental or cooked breakfast is served in the restaurant. Wednesday to Sunday from 7.30 and is finished by 9.00 this is included in the room price. Early check in must be before 3pm otherwise our regular check in time is not until 6pm. Please note that we are closed between 3pm and 6pm therefore there is no availability to check in between those times. Reception is open between 12-3pm and 6-10pm. Payment on arrival please. Please be aware that the heating will not on from June 1st.
