The King Charles Hotel is a privately-owned, modern, 98 bedroom hotel. Rooms provide en suite bathrooms, satellite TV, and hairdryers. Free Wi-Fi is available in all public areas. The King Charles 's restaurant provides traditional French and English cuisine, with à la carte and table d hôte menus on offer. Guests can also enjoy drinks or light lunches with a large-screen TV at the hotel bar. The Hotel is set in the heart of Medway and Maritime Kent and is just 2 minutes away from Historic Rochester with it 's Castle, Cathedral and Dickens Museum. Other sites of interest in Medway include Chatham Historic Dockyard, Fort Amherst, the Royal Engineers Museum and Dicken 's World. Central London is just 30 miles away as is the Channel Tunnel and Ferry Ports. Other places of interest include Bluewater Shopping Centre, Leeds Castle and Canterbury. We are ideal as a base for exploring both Kent and London and make an ideal stopover for coaches heading to and from Europe. FROM A2 SOUTHBOUND Take the A289 Gillingham exit. At the end of the road, take the second exit to Gillingham (A289) at the roundabout. At the next roundabout, take the first exit to Medway Tunnel / Gillingham (A289). At the next roundabout, take the first exit to Medway Tunnel / Gillingham (A231). After you have driven through Medway Tunnel, move into the right-hand lane. Take the exit for Brompton (B2003) on your right. Turn right at the next set of traffic lights, following signs to Gillingham Town Centre / Brompton (B2003). Just before the end of the road, turn left into the King Charles Hotel Car Park (marked by a sign). Follow the building around, until you reach the foyer, marked Reception MOTORWAY ACCESS From the M1, take the M25 East. Go across the Dartford Crossing (toll applies) and take Junction 2 (A2/M2) to Canterbury. Follow A2 Southbound directions. From the M4/M40 take the M25 to Gatwick. Take Junction 2 (A2/M2) to Canterbury. Follow A2 Southbound directions. FROM M20 NORTHBOUND Take Junction 6 (A229) and head toward Chatham. Keep following the A229 until you pass PC World , Toys R Us and Rochester Airport (on your left), and move into the right-hand lane, following the A230 to Chatham. Follow the road to the very end, and bear right, following the signs for A231 Gillingham. Keep following the road, passing the Chatham Historic Dockyard on your left, and take the second exit at the roundabout. At the second set of traffic lights, turn left onto Prince Arthur Road, then immediately right into the car park (marked King Charles Hotel . Follow the building around until you reach the foyer, marked Reception FROM M2 NORTHBOUND Take Junction 4 (A278) and head toward Gillingham. Go straight across the next two roundabouts, following signs to Gillingham. At the next roundabout, take the first exit to Gillingham. At the next roundabout, take the third exit to Medway Tunnel / Gillingham (A289). Go straight across the next three roundabouts, following signs to Medway Tunnel. Turn left at the junction to Gillingham Town Centre / Brompton (B2003). At the traffic lights, turn right to Gillingham Town Centre / Brompton (B2003). Just before the end of the road, turn left into the King Charles Hotel car park (marked by a sign). Follow the building around to the foyer, marked Reception .
