Congleton Golf Club can date its origin back to a meeting held on 22nd October 1898. On May 13th 1899 the Club held its first ever competition. In 1904 a new location had to be found and an agreement was reached to move to its current location in approximately 1907. Major changes were made to the course in May 1931. The original clubhouse was situated behind the first tee, where it remained until 1967. They moved into the present Clubhouse when it opened on Saturday 2nd December. Playing over 9-holes it is a parkland course characterised by tight fairways, woodlands, slopes and fabulous views up to the Pennines.
