Colville Park Golf Club was founded in 1923 after Jerviston Estate, which was owned by the prominent and influential iron and steel magnates the Colville family, was gifted to the workers of Dalzell Iron and Steel Works. Built on the grounds of the former family estate in Scotland̍s industrial heartland town of Motherwell, the golf course was developed as part of a larger recreational facility which included along with golf - Tennis, Bowling, Football and general green open space. Indeed Colville Park̍s proud heritage is steeped in the noble social aspirations of improving the health of the workers in the iron and steel mills and the residents of the town as a whole through leisure.
Built originally as a 9 hole course in 1923, the course was refined and lengthened as early as 1925 to the 18 holes.
