Mitchelstown Golf Club was Founded in 1910 The club lived a quiet and genteel life as a nine hole golf course for the better part of seventy years. In the late eighties as the Irish economy and society was entering a new phase it became apparent that The Club needed to look forward. Being surrounded on all sides by valuable and expensive farming land the move to an eighteen hole course was not easy in financial terms so the step forward was accomplished in two stages. Stage one was the construction of six new holes which opened in 1994. Stage two followed some years later with the construction of a further six holes which opened in 2003. Now the club is located on the Gurrane, consist of 18 holes course. The course has matured into one of Munster?s finest parkland courses.
