Twenty three consecutive European Tour events in the 1970?_?_??s, 80?_?_??s and 90?_?_??s firmly put Fulford on the global golfing map, and the list of winners at Fulford includes an array of Ryder Cup Players & Captains and many Major winners.

Fulford was also the host club for the inaugural Womens British Open Championship, won by Jenny Lee Smith in 1976.

One of the most famous shots in golf history was shot, when during the Benson and Hedges in 1981, Bernhard Langer played his third shot from the ash tree by the green on the 17th hole.
