The Prince's Course is the shorter of our two courses (5487 yards, par 68) and more undulating, with wonderful elevated views over Richmond Park's 3000 acres and beyond. Rebuilt in 2013/14, following a two-year course improvements programme, The Prince's features modern design characteristics such as newly constructed greens to USGA specification and new bunkers/water hazards. The Prince's signature hole is the new par-4 18th - playing just under 300 yards it's a true 'risk and reward' scenario! Big hitters can take on the green, but an easy birdie can quickly turn into a card-wrecker with plenty of water hazards and bunkers awaiting an errant drive.
The Duke's Course is the longer of our two courses (6369 yards, par 71) on the lower part of the estate that adjoins Richmond Park, so it really feels that you're playing golf within the Park's unique natural setting. The Duke's Course features many water hazards and the park's ancient brook. The Duke's retains several similarities to the original course built in 1923 and regarded by many as the 'championship course' due to its length and more challenging nature. It was home to the Virgin Atlantic PGA Surrey Open in 2013, with the region's top professionals taking on the demands of the Duke's. The signature hole is the par-5 12th that runs alongside Richmond's ancient Beverley Brook - the green is in reach of two well-struck, perfectly placed shots.
At a little under 6,100 yards, ours is not a long course, but it presents a stiff challenge to golfers of all abilities. Narrow fairways and strategic bunkering put a premium on pin point accuracy. So, too, do six par 3s, averaging 182 yards in length. Very few golfers, amateur or professional, match their handicap when they visit us. The course record for the current layout now stands at 62, which has only been broken recently, having been for many years 66, only four under par.
