Golf clubs

The club was started in 1911 by a small band of about a dozen enthusiasts who saw the possibilities of playing their favourite game under ideal conditions on a piece of grassland, known as the ̱Saltings̨ because of its proximity to the seashore. They, themselves designed and laid out nine holes and converted the Club House and locker room, an old stable to which was later added a Professional̍s Shop. The greens, purposely kept small, were cut and tended in those early days by the members, but their enthusiasm soon built up a flourishing club, which today is complete with a well equipped Club House and all the machinery and expertise to ensure the maintenance of the course in tip-top condition. It has a 9 hole links course situated at the end of Collingwood Road, Whitstable.
