The County Sligo Golf Club, Rosses Point, County Sligo, Eire
The picturesque and challenging championship links is over 100 years old and is recognised as one of Ireland?_?_??s greatest courses. It is one of the most popular golf destinations in Ireland and when you experience its charms you will understand why. The club is the home of the famous West of Ireland Open amateur championship played every Easter since 1923. It has hosted many other prestigious events including the Home Internationals, the Irish Close and the Irish Professional Match play Championship.

The course boasts one of the most scenic locations in Ireland perched on cliffs that tower over three expansive beaches overlooking the Atlantic. The panoramic mountain and ocean views are spectacular but they pale in comparison to the stunning scenery provided by Benbulben, an enormous limestone rock formation that the area is known for.

Besides the great views, the golf course offers an excellent round. The traditional links layout, designed by Harry Colt, utilizes the natural contours of the dune-covered landscape rather than moving large amounts of earth during its design. The end result is a course filled with dramatic undulations, elevated tees, and raised plateau greens.
County Sligo Golf Club extends a special welcome to visitors all year round. Tee times are available each day and may be booked on an individual or group basis. Special rates are available for societies and corporate outings. For Details contact David O’ Donovan, General Manager.
As soon as you arrive you will be made to feel extremely welcome by our PGA professional Jim Robinson and his team. Golfers can avail of the 18 hole championship links, the 9 hole Bomore course, the newly constructed driving range and full practice facilities.
After your round, enjoy a meal in the Watch House Restaurant or visit our bar and let our head Barman Tom help you to unwind in the traditional Irish way.
The professional shop at County Sligo is one of the finest in Ireland and carries a large selection of high quality goods for those who look for that special service, great quality and fantastic value. Club, Trolley and Buggy hire can be organised through the shop.
County Sligo Golf Club is a Quality Approved Golf Course, approved to Fáilte Ireland standards. This means the services and facilities have been independently checked out before you tee-off.
Championship Course

A centenarian with all the dignity and maturity of age, this is one of Ireland’s great championship links. The course which was designed by the legendary Harry Colt and has hosted most of Ireland’s major championships in its long and venerable history. Three large beaches beneath the cliffs keep the Atlantic Ocean at bay as Benbulben Mountain competes with the ocean for scenic splendour on the land side. Many believe that Rosses Point offers the finest 18 holes in the country. Among the most beautiful holes on the front nine is the short par four 2nd hole. Measuring just over 278 metres, the hole plays severely uphill and your approach can be very difficult to judge, while the panoramic view from the green is as vast as it is sensational. The wind from the sea is a constant factor but the 3rd and 5th holes have very satisfying downhill drives to compensate. The 7th may appear straightforward for a hole rated as the index one but when your approach makes an unscheduled visit to the brook in front of the green, your comprehension of this rating will grow. The homeward journey will not disappoint and the 10th and 11th holes, which offer excellent views of the great Benbulben Mountain, are two excellent par fours. The par four 14th, measuring some 394 metres from the championship stakes, is Tom Watson’s favourite and is an extremely testing hole, which when the wind is blowing is almost a par five. Your drive at the 15th needs to carry quite a distance over some very wild dunes close to the shore, while the pick of the final three holes is probably the par four 17th, which is rated as the second most difficult hole of the course and requires a long second shot to an amphitheatre green.

Bomore Course

The Bomore 9 hole course was added in 1999 and has become very popular with members and visitors alike. These nine holes present a very different challenge from the championship course with prickly gorse bushes and numerous water hazards awaiting an errant drive. The terrain is flat and mostly below sea level and is regarded by many as a very challenging test. The newly constructed driving range is adjacent to the first tee, this superb facility is a tremendous addition to the complex.
